Ebay item 8/17/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ-Resto-Project-Good-BodyInterior-Needs-1971-Green-Rest ...
Classified ad asking $2,499. 38k miles.

Sellers description:
This is an Iconic 1971 Jaguar XJ6 Sedan, it is a proper British Racing Green with a Tan leather interior. This Jag needs a bit of therapy, she does not currently run, but is complete. The body is in very good condition overall, and the interior is in good condition. These cars are impossible to find in this condition, usually they are very rusty, this one is not.

The engine and mechanicals will need some therapy, but they are complete. The engine is currently not running, but we can work with the new owner to assist in the restoration project. We assist with getting in running or you can buy the car as is, this is up to you! We love to drive these cars and work on them, it does nothing but make them increase in value.

This is a relatively clean and straight example that has clearly been cared for over the years. There are some nits and nats, minor dents, some flaky paint, and some minor body issues to contend with, but they are minor, the floors and frame are in good shape as are most of the body panels.

The interior is in good condition, the seats are in good shape as is the carpet and headliner. The iconic dash is in good shape as is the steering wheel and touchable items, and the gauges are all in good overall condition. Simply get it running and driving, or have us do, and you have a terrific car.

We were very impressed with the condition of the car underneath. The floors, rocker panels, and overall frame are in good condition. There is some scale, but this easily removed. There are some spots on the body panels and a couple of other issues, but this is easily fixed. We found no evidence of accident history or previous repair underneath. This is a highly original, solid car, making it a great candidate for restoration and long-term enjoyment.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
