Sellers description:
This car has been owned by my father and I for a bit over four years; we bought it to do a restoration on it and kinda lost steam. We did quite a bit of work on the car, but some cosmetic things remain. All of the mechanicals have been redone while in our posession, including 6 new shocks, brakes, wheel bearings, new rack and pinion, and some motor work. It runs and drives great at this point, and could completely be counted on to get you around town or whatever. This car had the problematic Jaguar v12 replaced by a previous owner with a solid chevy v8 (305), which is about the cheapest motor on the planet to get parts for, not to mention anyone can work on it, unlike the regular Jag motor. It's actually a very common engine swap that is well documented on the web. We have several other projects going, and when it came time to do all of the little bits of this and that we ended up letting it sit, and now we REALLY need some room.

The condition of the car is overall quite good for it's age. There is almost no rust on the car at all, as it was a California car before coming to Wisconsin 4 years ago. There is a dent in the rear drivers side 1/4 panel that is about half a baseball size, I think something fell on it years ago but we're not really into doing body work, so that might need to be addressed eventually. Paint is original, so it's not great but hey, it's 40 years old.

All of the doors lock and the windows roll up and down, all of the gauges work but some interior bulbs will need to be replaced. Interior is in good shape, but the seats are original and have some rips and tears. The leather is pretty old. Kangol seat belts! Modern mp3 deck and pioneer speakers are installed as well. The wood on the dash is awesome. I've never had someone in the car and not had them exclaim how cool the interior is. Needs a bit of tlc here and there.

The motor runs well and fires up great. We installed a manual choke to make starting that old v8 a little easier when it's cold out. Motor is a little newer than the car but I'm not exactly sure of the year on the motor. It does leak a little power steering fluid. And oil changes at jiffy lube instead of the Jaguar dealership is a blessing, trust me.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
