Sellers description:
This Jag. is not some hot rod that has racing engine and loud pipes. With the hood closed and running you cannot tell it from totally stock. This car is too beautiful not to be driven and seen!!! It is flawless--not a nick or scratch any where on this awesome paint job! THE PICTURES DON"T SHOW THE PEARLESSENT NEARLY WELL ENOUGH !
Ok, now about the car. I have owned this Florida car since 1979 and it has never seen snow. The transmission( a Borg Warner ) went bad at about 82,000 miles and was going to be very expensive to repair. I had just retired ( 2005 ) so I decided to install a Summit Racing 350 Chevy long block crate motor with a truck camshaft, Edelbrock performer manifold ,carb, air filter and valve covers, a completely rebuilt 350 Turbo Transmission and replaced anything else mechanical that needed to be replaced at that time. I drove the car for a few years to be assured that there were no mechanical problems and than spent a year and half stripping the body down to bare metal, up dating it to the best of series 2 and 3 parts and having it professionally painted with 13 coats of paint. THIS WAS DONE THE CORRECT WAY---NO SHORT CUTS WERE TAKEN. IT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL !!! I have had it to the Prestigious Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix 3 times since it was completed and it has won FIRST IN CLASS each time as judged by it's peers.
Here are some of the things this car has that I haven't mentioned----16 inch Dayton True Spoke Wire Wheels-Michelin Tires--seires three grill, tail lights, trunk lid with thinner chrome bar and emblems in gold--no external radio antenna (it is in the rear window )--Gold leaper on hood---Gold Jaguar and XJC script on trunk lid---Nardi signed wooden Jaguar steering wheel--New Burrelwood Dash--Sony am/fm CD player--Bose directional rear speakers--Blaupunt front speakers.
I don't beleave you will find a finer one of these very rare Jaguars (only 1349 were produced ) anywhere.
A V12 with carbs can be a nightmare, but the 350 is bullet proof---easy on gas---can be maintained by any decent mechanic---is more balanced and lighter---and just loves a 2 lane country road---and when you stop draws a crowd with there ? and phones in hand.
