Tested then as "the worlds fastest vinyl roof" the electronic fuel injected SOHC 5.3 liter V12 with 3 speed automatic will push this 4190 lb. 4 seat Grand Touring hardtop coupe in complete comfort 0-60 in 7.4 sec; 0-100 in 20 sec; with a top speed 147 mph - impressive even today.
Note: this vehicle is registered and licensed in Calif. as a Historical Vehicle and there for smog exempt.
Overall condition: looks good, runs strong and drives great. Includes car cover and some extra parts.
Body: very good paint, glass, trim, original vinyl roof in good condition.
Interior: excellent head liner, new head rests and sun visors. Drivers seat cushion & armrest have some cracks and the front carpets will need attention. Wood dash has some surface cracks. All gauges work. All lights work.

Sellers description:
1976 Jaguar XJ12C:
This particular car is not currently running and indeed has some rust but is definitely worth bringing back to life; this was my plan when I purchased the car a few years back. In the meantime I acquired an XK120 (seen in the background) and have decided to do a complete body-off restoration on it, so the XJ12C is now offered for sale.
What this car has going for it is that it is original, complete and has a great color combination. Notwithstanding the comically peeling vinyl roof, the paint still looks OK and has gloss. The car appears to never have been in an accident, and the coachwork is very straight.
This car will need a bit of rust repair, but it is very far from being a lost cause like others; the rust is very isolated in small areas on either side of the transmission tunnel, the right rear floor and the passenger side door. The rest of the floors, rockers, driver door and trunk floor are solid, straight and clean. My speculation is that the rust was caused entering through rolled-down windows, getting the carpets and underlayment wet, and time. In other words, it was not caused by road salt as this was a California car. And as you can see, the rest of the underside is really pretty clean.
Ultimately this is a car that one could easily get running and driving, and then do a restoration.
