Lot #156774

This 1976 Jaguar XJ12C was initially distributed by British Leyland of Los Angeles, California, and it is said to have remained registered in the state through the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2024. Powered by a 3.5-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in red over Cinnamon leather upholstery. Further details include 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, a limited-slip differential, power windows and air conditioning. This XJ12C is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean California title.

Finished in Regency Red from the factory, the car was reportedly repainted under previous ownership. Exterior equipment includes quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, and polished dual exhaust outlets. An area of rust is noted below the left door.

Chrome-plated 15″wire-spoke wheels are wrapped in 215/70 Cooper Evolution Tour tires. Factory equipment included front and rear independent suspension as well as power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear calipers and rotors.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in Cinnamon leather, and wood veneer trim accents the dashboard. Additional appointments consist of power windows, air conditioning, a center console with storage, and a locking glove compartment. The radio is inoperative, the power antenna does not extend, there is a tear in the right armrest, and imperfections are shown on the left door pocket.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 2k miles, and the true mileage is unknown.

The 5.3-liter V12 features fuel injection and was factory rated at 244 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that recent service consisted of an oil change and replacing the air filters. The car most recently passed a California emissions test in March 2024, and it was initially designated a Gross Polluter by the state of California in 2007.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists serial numbers, colors, and 15 October 1975 as the date of manufacture. Service records and an awards are included in the sale.

The car number on the data plate is listed as UG2G50579BW, while the VIN on the current California title is UG2G50579. A California Bureau of Automotive Repair engine identification label is affixed to the left door jamb.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
