Our example here is finished in a colour also unlikely to have been thought of back in ’68, Carnelian Red. The paint isn’t perfect, there are a few dents and scratches and some bubbling to the sunroof but it presents well enough. The windows have been given an aftermarket dark tint at some stage and there’s also a set of aftermarket spotlights under the front bumper. Inside, the beige leather interior is complete except that one of the ashtrays in the centre console is missing, with the dash woodwork wrinkling a little and there’s damage to the driver’s seat. So, there is plenty of room to rejuvenate the tired cabin. The XJ6 has not been used these past five years, so it will need a mechanical recommissioning. All of which means this car is a bit of a project and will be priced accordingly. But it is all there and with the appropriate amount of TLC would make a very affordable luxury cruiser.
