This Daimler Double Six was first registered A434VOC on 15/09/83 having been bought by a recently retired GP as a present to himself. Unfortunately he died only one month later, and his widow sold the car to a British Airways 747 captain living in Bracknell. The pilot kept it in virtually concours condition until it was acquired by the vendor in October 2000. In 2008, with the total indicated mileage at 53,500 the car was completely rebuilt and extensively modified by Brian Ball of Waterlooville, Hampshire. He spent his life working at Brown's Lane, latterly on the V12 production line. He remains one of the best sources of rare spare Jaguar parts on the planet, and is used by several Jaguar main dealers for this purpose.
The specification includes:-
ENGINE: The last 6 litre version of the V12, unmodified, built from scratch by Brian Ball using an unused block and all-new internals and ancilliaries throughout.
TRANSMISSION: 5 speed Getrag manual
FINAL DRIVE: X350 unit with modified prop shaft, mounted on brand new powder coated subframe for increased longevity.
FRONT SUSPENSION: Aston-Martin DB9 uprights mated to X350 components to allow for fitting larger front brakes, all mounted in a brand new subframe, powder coated for increased longevity.
REAR SUSPENSION: X350 to allow fitting of outboard rear brakes.
STEERING: Power assisted from X350
BRAKES: Large Brembo dics all round!
WHEELS: Compomotive 18" split-rim alloys shod with Pirelli P Zero 255/40/ZR
INTERIOR: Completely retrimmed in fine Autolux leather (as per Bentley) including seat backs, door cards etc. Headlining is in West of England cloth. New top quality Wilton carpets throughout, including boot, with matching wooly floor mats.
EXTERIOR: Resprayed in original colour
The cost of the above works was approximately £35,000 and has resulted in a car that drives and handles very well - a huge improvement on the standard car but with the emphasis on outright performance, rather than ultimate luxury. The cost was, of course, in addition to the purchase price of the car.
Guide Price: £15000 to £20000
