Original 4.2 Liter Engine
Mechanical Refresh in 2015
Rebuilt BW12 Automatic Transmission
Jaguar Heritage Certificate
This 1971 Jaguar XJ6 is a Series 1 example featuring its original 4.2 liter inline 6-cylinder engine and 122,130 documented miles. Purchased by the current owner in early 2015, the car has since received a $12k mechanical refresh including a rebuilt Borg Warner 12 automatic transmission, rebuilt carburetor, overhauled front suspension, and new front brakes. Recently serviced last month, the seller has logged 3300 miles behind the wheel in the last year and says it drives very well. Service records from the mechanical refresh and a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate of authenticity are included, and the car is sold with a clean California title.
The car was purchased by the previous owner in 2006 after sitting in dry storage for 8 years, and was repainted to match the original color of Old English White in 2007. The paint is in good condition with a few small scratches and nicks from normal wear, and the body is straight with no evidence of any accidents or major bodywork.
The original 4.2 liter XK inline 6-cylinder engine was refreshed in 2015 by the current owner. The original Borg Warner Model 12 Automatic transmission was rebuilt by Jul's transmission in Silverlake, CA and includes a warranty. All other service was performed by Just Jaguar in Sherman Oaks, CA including a rebuilt carburetor, driveshaft balancing, new center support bearing, and new driveshaft mounting rubbers. The alternator was changed to a GM unit for reliability, and the tachometer has been converted to work with electronic ignition which is not yet installed on the car.
