This 1976 Jaguar XJ6C coupe is a running-and-driving project that is finished in silver over red leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes chrome wheels, hubcaps, power steering, wood interior trim, and an Alpine cassette stereo. The seller purchased the vehicle in 2011 and notes deferred maintenance, a transmission leak, areas of rust, torn upholstery, and other issues described below. This Series II XJ6 coupe is now offered at no reserve with tire-changing tools and a Washington title in the seller’s name.
The two-door hardtop was repainted in silver and its vinyl roof covering was removed under prior ownership, according to the seller. Exterior features include a B-pillar-less greenhouse, quad round headlights, a driver-side mirror, twin fuel-filler doors, and chrome bumpers with rubber guards. Rust bubbles under the paint in multiple areas, a repaired scrape above the right-front wheel, and pitted chrome are among the imperfections are visible. The headlights do not work.
Chrome-finished 15″ ventilated steel wheels feature Jaguar-logo hubcaps and are mounted with 215/70 Dayton Daytona SR tires. The car is equipped with an independent front and rear suspension as well as front and rear disc brakes.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in red Connolly leather upholstery. Interior appointments include burl wood accents, an Alpine cassette stereo, automatic climate control, and central locking. The air conditioning is inoperative. The seller notes that the rear driver’s power window does not work, and the other three operate slowly. Tears in the front seats and rust in the floorboards is visible.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 5,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over and shows 15k miles; the speedometer stopped working a few years ago, according to the seller, who estimates having driven the vehicle less than 1k miles since 2011. True mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six is equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. A tune-up was performed most recently and the air conditioning was recharged in the mid-2010s; no other service has been performed under current ownership, and deferred maintenance is said to be needed. The coolant-overflow tank has “pinhole leaks,” the seller states.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission, which “leaks quite a bit,” per the seller.
The Washington title carries a Classic brand and notes an Odometer Status of “Exempt”.
