Car offered at:
www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/jaguar/xj6c/2215039.html

Seller's description:
Location: Atlanta, Georgia, 30306
VIN #: UH2J53269
Mileage: 55,531
Transmission: Auto
Condition: Excellent
Exterior: Old English White
Interior: Red

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1977 Jaguar XJ6C, an attractive and well-maintained three-owner car showing 55,000 miles. Finished in Old English White with a black vinyl top and red leather interior, it's a striking example of Jaguar's rare coupe version of the venerable XJ6.

The car offered was sold new in Chicago where it remained until the current Atlanta owner's purchase three years ago. It was clearly never driven in the winter given the rust-free body and undercarriage. Mostly original paint shows well with a few touch-ups but no major flaws; original vinyl top is very nice with no evidence of bubbling or corrosion beneath. Bumpers, chrome, wheels, etc. are in excellent original condition with only minor patina and no objectionable pitting or hazing.

Original interior has held up well; leather seating surfaces remain supple and have a nice ''broken in'' feel but with no holes or tears; door panels and carpets are excellent; headliner is in good condition but has slightly faded. Very nice dash with crack-free upper pad and excellent wood. Original AM/FM 8-track stereo works, as do all of the gauges.

Under the hood is the 4.2 liter version of Jaguar's excellent XK twin-cam straight six mated to an automatic transmission (engine is, of course, the numbers-matching original). The car starts, runs and drives well and feels quite smooth and put-together. Recent service work includes re-lined fuel tanks, new fuel pumps, fuel filter, heater hoses, new A/C compressor and receiver/drier, full tune up, ignition module, brake flush and more. Tidy engine compartment and boot.

Included with the sale are the factory jack (in its original bag), spare, owner's manuals, service records and the original window sticker.

Price: $28,900

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
