Ebay item 9/5/17
www.ebay.com/itm/1976-Jaguar-XJ6-LONG-WHEEL-BASE-/272834249936
Car has a buy it now price of $7,500 for 6 days, seller trwus, 94k miles.

Sellers description:
1976 Series 2 Jaguar XJ6L in the rare '70's color Green Sand with Olive interior. Currently, it has 94,521 miles. This car was originally purchased in Canada and was delivered with a Borg Warner automatic transmission. At some point, while in Canada, it was converted to a 5 speed manual using the British Leyland 5 speed which Jaguar used in early Series 3 XJ6.

When the car was brought to the US 6 years ago with about 80,000 miles, it had trouble selecting reverse gear so the transmission was replaced with the same type of trans, the clutch was replaced and the car was converted to Series 1 manual chokes. The other trans, though not repaired, is included in this sale, if you like, along with the relevant copies from the parts book.

While in Canada, the car had a total repaint. The paint is still smooth as silk and very shiny. It does have the occasional touched up chip here and there.

Last year the front windshield was removed and the car was sent to the body shop to have the rust around the front windshield repaired. Something most of these cars will suffer from sooner or later. The car was painted from the cowl and over the roof - all the way back to the bottom of the rear windshield pillars. The original windshield was reinstalled along with a new gasket. I also had those chrome windshield hold downs at the top re-chromed.

The car also has:
a Power Antenna which works by toggle switch
Sun Dym tinted windows - an option
Cibie Fog Lights- an option

As with any old Jaguar, there were a lot of kinks to work out. Since the car was brought here 6 years ago with 80,000 miles on it (in the past 14,000 miles), it has had a lot of work done to it. Here are some of the highlights:

Replaced transmission
Front transmission seal
Clutch
Clutch Master Cylinder
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Reman Air Pump
Radiator Hoses
Thermostat
Belts
NOS Blower Motor Relay
NOS Distributor Cap, Rotor, Set of Points and Condenser
Spark plugs
Carbs were rebuilt, new needles
Exhaust "Y" pipe
2 Rear Reman Calipers
Rear Brake Pad Set
2 Front Rotors
Set of Front Brake Pads
2 Front Brake hoses
Rear Brake hose
Front wheel bearings
Front wheel seals
4 Upper control arm bushings
2 upper ball joints
NOS Wiper Stalk Switch
Cam cover gaskets
AC Amplifier
Fuel tanks pulled and cleaned
New gaskets from tank to filler neck (LH and RH)
New fuel cap gaskets
New LH tank fuel sending unit
Fan Clutch
Reman AC Compressor
AC Converted to R134A
Radiator Foam
Steering Rack Boots
Horn Contacts replaced in Steering Column
Wiper Motor Brushes
Washer Pump
3 NOS window switches
Alignment
Rebuilt "cow bells" under rear windshield.
Front windshield rust repaired and repaint from cowl to "C" pillars
New wiper blades
Replaced all four marker light gaskets

Plus it has fresh coolant and oil!

So, as you can see, a lot of money has been spent on this car in the past couple of years! All the service records since it came to the US will be included in this sale.

Here are the Pros:
It's a 5 speed!!!!! 97% of it works (see Cons). Most of the expensive work has already been done. It's starts right up, runs and drives and currently doesn't leak anything! Not bad for a 41 year old Jaguar! After all, it spent the first five years here being used a daily driver. All the windows work smoothly from all the switches! The AC is ice cold!!! Door locks work. Clock works. Lighter works. Opera lights work when you open the doors. All Gauges work. It's all been gone through already. The paint is shiny, the chrome is all shiny and respectable. The car gleams! The seats are comfortable and the foam pads aren't disintegrating (except for headrests). The leather's patina is like that of your favorite leather chair in the men's grill at your country club! This car really turns heads!

Now for the cons:
The car has a '70's aftermarket "Sky Top" tinted sunroof (with sliding panel) that leaks. The motor is also currently toast, plus it sits low in the back at roof line. The sunroof needs to be replaced with something modern at which time they would replace the headliner. I thought about putting one of those full size black canvas folding Webasto tops in instead of a modern cartridge. My upholstery shop said it would fit. That's as far as I got.

The car was missing one of the Jaguar mudflaps so I removed them and found some mostly surface rust starting behind them but, it is especially bad at the front left. See pictures. There is also a large bubble forming in the lower corner of the front left fender. The outer sills will have to addressed as well as the spot on the front fender which they could do a blend there while repairing the sills. There is also a cluster of small bubbles forming in one area on the left rear quarter above the tire - see pictures.

The interior has a few flaws. As you will see in the pictures, the finish on the dash is cracking off on the glove box door. Another thing that happens to most of these cars eventually. The veneer underneath is still intact. These can be sent out and redone, or if you have the talent, you can do it yourself.

The headrests need new foam.

Another typical ailment is the seams of the leather at the top of the rear seat have separated from sunbake - at each end and in the middle. Not in the pleats. This can be repaired.

Driver's floor carpet has a heel wear hole. I have a set of E Type 2+2 Amco rubber mats for the front floors.

Everything currently works with the exception of the sunroof and the RH fuel tank sender, if I have time I might get to the fuel tank sender. I haven't driven it much in the past year except to exercise it around the block and the sender may just be cranky.

I have lost my garage space for this car and it doesn't deserve to sit outside under a cover, so it must move on to it's next caretaker.

The five-digit odometer shows 97k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The seller states that the left fuel tank was replaced prior to their acquisition. power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that was retrofitted under previous ownership.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
