Ebay item 5/18/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ6-L-Sedan-/171792898281
Current bid $1,525 reserve not met 6 bids 6 days left in auction. 63k miles.

Sellers description:
1976 Jaguar XJ6 L (Sedan). She has 63,685 original miles. In my opinion the car would rate between a "2" & a "3" on Hagerty's rating system.

The car was originally a Washington state car. The original owner bought her in 1976 & drove her until approximately 1981 (the car was serviced regularly at British Motor Cars of Portland, OR - I have receipts), at which point she was placed in storage for the next 30 years. In 2010 the second owner bought her, & during his ownership only drove her literally 30 miles. She needed some work at the time, but he never got around to it.

I have kept everything on this car as original as possible, & I've upgraded where I felt it was appropriate and or necessary. For example, the cooling system is a known weak spot on these cars, so please read below as to what I did to help that system out as much as possible.

The car is in very good to excellent condition. I would rate the following as such:

Exterior (Body): 9.5 - straight body, no dents, all panel lines are perfect, except the passenger fender to hood, near the front windshield (it is slightly off). Minimal surface rust here & there. All the chrome pieces are in excellent condition.

Exterior (Paint): 8.5 - great for a 40-year old paint job, but it does have some chips, scratches, etc.

Interior: 9.0 - everything is in great condition, minor scuffs & scratches on the front seats. Rear seats appear to be hardly used. Originally Jaguar floor mats are present. There is a minor crack in the glove box. The "map light" is missing its cover.

The 2nd owner upgraded the ignition system (distributor) to an electronic one, eliminating the points-style system. The car starts up quick & smooth.

I have done the following (all work was performed at RPM Auto Center in Irwindale, CA - feel free look them up on Yelp:

Changed the oil Mobil 1 10W40 "High mileage" full synthetic oil, with a Bosch oil filter
Replaced the spark plug wires with Bosch spark plug wires
Replaced the fuel filter with a Bosch fuel filter
Replaced all accessory belts
Replaced the front harmonic balancer seal
Replaced the valve cover gaskets, including the appropriate copper washers
Replaced the cam seals
Had the alternator rebuilt (see picture)
Ran (2) bottles of Red Line SI-1 fuel system cleaner, one in each fuel tank

Went through the entire cooling system, & had it pressure checked & flushed. During the flush, the heater valve ended up collecting a bunch of debris & became useless. I replaced the following:

water pump
heater valve - used an OEM unit (not a cheap generic unit from RockAuto) from XKs Unlimited in San Luis Obispo, CA
hoses
I am running a 70/30 mixture of distilled water (70%) & coolant (30%), along with a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter

Serviced the transmission with Red Line Racing ATF (Red Line's version of Type F transmission fluid).

Serviced the differential with Red Line 75w90 GL-5. Note: Per the original owner's records & receipts, this car's differential was replaced in 1979. So, the current differential on the car has roughly one year's worth of use on it, AND it has been upgraded to Red Line 75w90 GL-5.

RPM Auto Center went through & inspected both the braking system & suspension, & everything passed with flying colors.

The only thing I have done with the interior is:

Thoroughly vacuumed the interior
Had the headliner replaced by Julio's Upholstery in Highland Park, CA
Cleaned the seats with Pinnacle Leather & Vinyl cleaner
Applied Pinnacle Leather Conditioner

I have only used Meguar's Professional #62 car wash shampoo on the exterior.

Issues
The only issues I can think of at this time are:

The temperature gauge does not work.
The center console controls for the power windows only works for the driver's side front window.
The glove box has a small crack in it.
The map light is missing the cover.

She is a beautiful car & drives like a luxury car should.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
