Sellers description:
1976 Jaguar XJ6C, these were very limited edition 2 door coupes made for just 3 years. As a Jaguar lover and owner I have had one before and they are unique collectible. This one, while not perfect is a great car for the hobby collector to own and restore.

First the car is pretty complete and has just 70K on it from new. What I know about the car is this. It has served life in PA, GA, TX and finally here in AZ. Its been here for what looks like about 7 years. I will say that there is NO rust through on this car. I can tell that the body was repainted at some point an almost identical shade of burgandy but its not 100% exact. I also have about $5000 in receipts for repairs done to it in the last 5 years.

Now on to the car and I will repeat some things to make it clear. #1, if you know anything about these cars then you know the floors rot away quickly as does the spare tire housing floor. These are in great condition and need NOTHING. This is a VERY solid car and great for restoring.

I bought this to restore it but then about 2 weeks later bought a front hit XKR convertible and now have no time or garage space for the XJ6C. This is why the pictures are taken in the warehouse and not my garage. I bought this car about 2 months ago and really was torn as to whether I should keep it or sell it and well you know what I decided.

So what needs to be done, well the car starts and runs ok, should probably go through the motor though to make sure. Trans seems to shift fine. Brakes feel a little weak and would need to be checked but I dont think its a booster problem. Tires and wheels, while not original, are very nice, especially the multi piece BBS wheels. I would NOT drive this any long distance until it is fully road worthy. It came from an older woman whos husband owned it and was restoring it when he passed away. It has not been driven regularly in a couple years.

The body is pretty much all there though missing the lower fender leaping cat emblems and the right rear marker light as seen in the picture. Also the 2 small white marks on the right rear quarter are a small crease but the rest of the body is remarkably straight. The vinyl top was pulled off the car and there is NO rust to be seen. I always liked these without the vinyl top but thats my opinion. But I will again repeat the roof is NOT rusted what you see is all the factory primer and glue. The bumper rubber is still good shape and usable. The paint on the top of the driver side door and rear quarter are worn away. I was going to spot paint those areas as the panels are fine but the paints just worn off. Inner door, hood and trunk jams are clean as a whistle with no bondo or rust. Lower rockers and rear valance are rust free. The lower front valance is like new and normally never without damage but this one is. Lights all work as they should.

The interior is what will need some work. Its in need of a complete redo. As can be seen in the pictures the seats, carpet and package self are worn out. The rest is all there but needs major freshening. The steering wheel was changed to a Nardi and the wood on the dash was replaced. The gauges are fine and work, the power windows work, albeit slowly and the passenger side sticks. But again I will repeat its all there. As can be seen in the pictures the trunk is complete including the spare. I also have the original air cleaner for motor which isnt shown.

While this car is not perfect Im not looking for perfect money either. It is however an original 70,000 mile car with none of the normal rust thats found on cars this old. Its a great starting point for any Jaguar afficianado and would make an excellent driver or collectable for someone.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
