Ebay item 7/15/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Jaguar-XJ6-/320945138311
Opening bid $1,500 reserve not met, no bids 4 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This is a true vintage Jaguar. The last year of the Series One. This rare Jaguar has a sunroof that comes off completely. I have not seen any other like this for sale. It has a newer engine from a 1983 XJ 6 that was rebuilt. I have owned this Jaguar for over 16 years. It was mostly driven on weekends and ALWAYS garaged since I've owned it. The car has a small dent on passenger rear, no bigger than a thumb. The Jaguar has sat in a garage for nearly 6 years now without being driven. It will need a bit of work to get running again. Clean out gas tank. Rebuild dual carbs and tune up engine. It has a 4.2 dohc engine, Borg Warner auto trans. All trim is there and in good condition. The glass is good. The body is straight ...other than the one small dent on passenger rear.

US $1,500 reserve not met no bids 4 days left in auction. 39k miles.

Sellers description:
This is a vintage Jaguar XJ6 rare sunroof model. The vehicle has been sitting for a while. Car starts and idles but has not been driven in a few years. The (Jaguar) motor was rebuilt in 2004. The car was garaged for most of the time. It is in good condition and all the trim is there. The car has a CA title. You wont find a better vintage Jaguar for the price. This car is 41 years old and in great shape but it is AS IS.

Car returns to ebay 10/8/18
www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Jaguar-XJ6/123411451462
Starting bid: $1,973 no bids 6 days left in auction, seller porcellis_1632, car now said to be in Plano, Texas, 39k miles.

Seller's description:
I purchased the car a couple years ago. It is a true time warp of a car. Honestly,I wouldn't be surprised if those miles are original. We are so used to driving these intergalactic mileages today, however in the past 80k was rebuild time and an engine's lifespan. Other aspects of this car, as well as the tires which came on it were from a defunct company from the early 80s, were tell tales. I happened upon another S1 XJ6 that turned me on and purchased it as well on a whim as they are so difficult to come by. These are just such rare cars and a dream car of mine. In the end for whatever reason I ended up taking apart the other and began restoration of it. Way lead onto way, and I couldn't seem to stop.

This is actually the better car, however I simply cannot justify two. Considered swapping interiors as this car has an outstanding interior and the other is all dried out, but I decided against it and to just let it go intact as it would be a shame to molest it.

So this is rather the old girlfriend substituted for another, which in the end was actually not as good as the first ..but seemed special at the time..c'est la vie. I have too much already invested in the other so...

I've been a lifelong Jaguar enthusiast, and they have the best enthusiast following of any marque. The online resources are extraordinary.
I'd attended all the meets growing up, I never had actually seen a S1 XJ before until I had received this one sight unseen. It didn't disappoint. I'm never selling my other one.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
