Lot #185047
This 1985 Jaguar XJ12 Vanden Plas is said to have been purchased new by the current owner and subsequently imported to the US, and it has since remained registered in California. Powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in Regent Grey over Mulberry leather upholstery. Features include a limited-slip differential, 15″ pepper pot-style alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, headlight wipers, an Alpine stereo, automatic climate control, and power windows. This Series III XJ12 Vanden Plas is offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with service records, manufacturer’s literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and a California title.
The Pininfarina-styled bodywork is finished from the factory in Regent Grey (LDR) and was refinished in 2012. Exterior details include a Leaper hood ornament, a power sunroof, a power antenna, headlight wipers, fog lights, power-adjustable side mirrors, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. The hood is difficult to close and there is a chip in the windshield.
The 15″ pepper pot-style alloy wheels were refinished in 2025, at which time they were mounted with replacement Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Rack-and-pinion power steering as well as independent rear suspension with twin-coilover damping were equipped from the factory, and braking is handled by ventilated front and solid inboard rear discs. The selling dealer notes that the steering wheel is off-center when driving.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in Mulberry leather, while burl wood accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior equipment includes an Alpine head unit, power windows, automatic climate control, and adjustable rear reading lights. The cruise control does not work.
The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a replacement 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 95k miles, all of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 295 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Work performed in 2022 is said to have included replacing the battery, alternator, EGR valve, and vacuum lines, and the fuel filter was replaced in 2025.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
A decal from the California Bureau of Automotive Repair was affixed to the engine bay in December 1993.
