This 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas has been registered in California for much of its life and was acquired in October 2002 by the current owner. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and it is finished in beige over Doeskin leather upholstery. Equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, chrome 15″ Pepperpot alloy wheels, a CD stereo, automatic climate control, an onboard computer, passenger footwell rugs, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Work in September 2021 consisted of replacing the alternator as well as the air conditioning compressor and receiver/drier. This XJ6 Vanden Plas shows 127k miles and is offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with sheepskin front seat covers, spare parts, manufacturer’s literature, service records, a Carfax report, and a clean California title.

The car was finished from the factory in Satin Beige Metallic (AFV) and was reportedly repainted following a front-end collision in 2008. Features include a power-operated sunroof, dual fuel fillers, and a power antenna. Photos in the gallery below show cracked and peeling paint on the roof, front cowl, and around the right fuel filler, along with bubbling on the left fender and scuffs on the rear bumper.

Chrome-finished 15″ Pepperpot alloy wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Kumho Solus KR21 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. A replacement power booster was installed in 2016 and the fluid was flushed in 2018. The finish is peeling on the wheels and cracks on the tires are visible.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in Doeskin leather, along with brown carpets and wood trim. Amenities include automatic climate control, a CD stereo, an onboard computer, power mirrors, passenger footwell rugs, rear swivel-mounted reading lights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a digital compass, a map light, an exterior temperature display, and a garage door opener. The wood center console trim has been removed in lieu of a plastic piece and the master window lock switch was repurposed to control the A/C compressor. The cruise control is intermittent and flaws include cracks in the wood dashboard trim, creases in the front seats, and stains on the headliner.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline and a 140-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges displaying oil pressure, battery voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 127k miles, approximately 60k of which were added during current ownership.

The fuel-injected 4.2L inline-six was factory rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. The coolant was flushed in 2018, and service in 2021 included changing the oil, installing a rebuilt alternator, and replacing the left fuel tank switch, air conditioning compressor, and receiver/drier. The system was then recharged with R134a refrigerant.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was serviced in 2018. Oil leaks are noted by the seller.
