This 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas is finished in Cranberry Red Metallic over ivory leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, a digital trip computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, four-wheel disc brakes, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car was initially delivered to Roach Cadillac-Jaguar of Kansas City, Missouri, and was reportedly relocated to Arizona in 1992 before it was acquired by the selling dealer in February 2022. This XJ6 is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, service records, multiple keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title.
The car is finished in Cranberry Red Metallic (CEE) and features gold pinstriping, a “leaper” hood ornament, a power-operated sunroof, a retractable antenna, Vanden Plas badging, polished dual exhaust outlets, and chrome window surrounds, mirror caps, and trim. The selling dealer reports lacquer checking and paint chips, and paint meter readings can be seen in the gallery below.
Factory 15″ alloy wheels feature black accents and Jaguar center caps and are wrapped in 215/65 Continental ControlContact Touring Plus tires that show date codes from 2018 and 2020. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners, and the brake master cylinder and upper and lower ball joints were replaced in preparation for the sale according to the selling dealer.
The cabin features front bucket seats trimmed in ivory leather with a matching center console and door panels, while woodgrain veneers accent the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional equipment includes a digital trip computer, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, automatic climate control, cruise control, and power windows and mirrors. The cassette player does not work.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, voltage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The fuel-injected 4.2L inline-six was factory rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer states the radiator, head gasket, drive belts, valve covers, and spark plugs and wires were replaced in June 2019. An oil change was carried out in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission seals and fluid are said to have been replaced in June 2019.
Sold for USD $18,000 on 4/20/22

Lot #197060
This 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas was initially delivered to Roach Cadillac-Jaguar of Kansas City, Missouri, and it spent time in Arizona from 1992 until it was acquired by the seller on BaT in April 2022. The seller tells us the cylinder head was subsequently reconditioned and fitted with lifter stake downs, and additional work included the installation of a GM TH250C three-speed automatic transmission, a GM 100-amp alternator, aftermarket audio components, and a replacement water pump and front shock absorbers. Finished in Cranberry over beige leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six and equipped with 15″ Kent alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, a power antenna, a Sony stereo head unit, front bucket seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and power windows. This Series III XJ6 Vanden Plas shows 53k miles and is now offered at no reserve with the owner’s manuals, two sets of keys, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
KYB front shocks were installed following the seller’s acquisition.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in beige leather, while wood veneer trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional equipment includes a digital trip computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, and power windows and mirrors. A Sony stereo, JL Audio speakers, and an Infinity subwoofer were added under current ownership along with auxiliary switches in the center console ashtrays. There are cracks in the wood trim, and the headliner has been pinned in position. A set of lambswool floor mats is included in the sale.
A retrofitted XJS-specification steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 53k miles miles, approximately 3,400 of which were added under current ownership.
A GM 100-amp alternator was installed following the seller’s acquisition, the fluids were changed in 2023, and a replacement water pump is said to have been installed in preparation for the sale. The seller notes engine noise during cold starts, which is no longer audible once the engine is warm.
The factory gearbox was replaced with a GM TH250C three-speed automatic transmission under current ownership. The seller tells us the transmission was rebuilt before it was installed.
