Ad reads:

"1987 JAGUAR XJ6 VANDEN PLAS SEDAN

If you want a luxury car that draws attention everywhere you go without breaking the bank, then this is the car for you. The body is a beautiful metallic candy apple red that runs a mile deep. The Vanden Plas interior was just redone with the correct fawn color leather. The red paint is complimented with just the right amount of chrome and a fawn colored pinstripe to match the interior. When the new interior was installed, the carpet and headliner were cleaned or replaced as needed. The dash pad was replaced and looks nice with no cracks or blemishes. No plastic wood on these cars, this is a real Burl Elm veneer with a nice 21 year patina.

The 1987 Vanden Plas was the last year for the desirable Series III body style. This is a Florida car so there are no signs of frame, floor, or trunk rust. Body is straight with door gaps and panel fit just as it should be. The only flaws in the paint that I've found are the few slight chips and the edges of the doors or trunk lid, but less than is to be expected of a car this age. Nice looking tint on the glass. Chrome and stainless shine nicely and present well. The sunroof works as it should and the rubber weatherstrip seal was replaced when the interior was redone. The carpet in the trunk cleaned up nice and the original jack and tool kit are still there. Bridgestone tires on the Jaguar Alloy wheels have plenty of tread left. Car comes with the original Jaguar radio, and I have the security code for it.

Mechanically, this car has been well maintained. The engine compartment is clean, although not detailed or pristine. This car runs, drives, and stops as it should. These cars handle and perform beautifully and are a real pleasure to drive. The power windows, power locks, power sun roof all operate properly. Exhaust is quiet, front end is tight. The brakes have new rotors, pads, etc. Even the rear trans mount has been replaced to eliminate the high speed vibration common to these cars with the original mount.

There are a couple of quirks that I wish to point out. First this car is equipped with two gas tanks. Although the fuel pumps and valves on both tanks function correctly, the fuel guage on the passenger side tank does not register. This does not effect the operation of this vehicle and I've purchased another sending unit to go with the car. Secondly, the power antenna didn't work. I installed a universal antenna so the radio would work and since then I've purchased a new power antenna that goes with the car. Interestingly, the fuel tank sending unit and the power antenna are both replaced through the same opening. Third and finally, the climate control is set for air conditioning and does not change to heat at the moment. This has never been a problem for me as I've only driven the car in the summer and it's been stored in the winter. The A/C does blow ice cold though. I've been told this was a common condition to these Jaguars and can be repaired.

This Jaguar is sold as-is, where-is and the buyer is responsible for picking up or shipping of the vehicle. Only serious bidders please and full payment is preffered within seven days of auction close (cash in person or certified check only please). $500 down payment is required within 48 hours of auction close (Paypal preferred).

Don't miss out on this excellent example of a Series III XJ6 luxury sedan. It's a fun, comfortable ride and a great investment that I'm only getting rid of because I've acquired more gas pedals than feet to push them over the years and need to clear some space in the garage. "

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
