This 1984 Jaguar XJ6 is finished in Sapphire Blue Metalic over blue leather, and was sold new at San Jose British Motors. In 1990, the second owner purchased the car after finding it a newspaper ad in San Mateo, the original ad can be seen in the gallery below. The seller acquired the car from the second owner in 2012, and is a mechanic and owner of a British car specialty shop. The seller has used it as his personal vehicle since, and has maintained the car at his shop over the past five-years. It is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission and the 90k-mile service was performed last year. This XJ6 is offered with service records back to 1984, the original manuals, dealer materials, a clean Carfax, and a clean California title in the seller's name.

A chip is visible in the Sapphire Blue Metallic paint on the right front fender near the hood shutline, and the previous owner's log notes that some panels have been repainted, though it does not specify which. The pepper-pot style alloy wheels were fitted with new Sumitomo tires in 2015.

For 1984, the Series III XJ interior was updated with a center-stack mounted trip computer. The cruise control is not currently working.

Some seam separation is evident on the seat bottoms front and rear.

Power comes from a 4.2-liter inline-six paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Service records dating back to 1984 are included, and it has been maintained at the seller's shop over the past five-years. The car failed California Smog in 2012, and the seller fitted a new fuel pump, filter and fuel pressure regulator to remedy the issue. The seller notes that it recently passed California Smog in 2018. The 90k-mile service was performed last year, and included the following:

Engine oil and lubrication
Transmission fluid and filter change
Coolant change
Spark plugs, ignition cap and rotor replaced
Brake and safety inspection
Wiper blades replaced

Photos of the underside are provided, including the floors, suspension components, rockers, and valences.

1984 Jaguar XJ6

Original Jaguar sales literature is included, as are the owners manuals, a hand-written maintenance log, and a cassette head cleaner kit for the factory stereo.

The accident-free Carfax shows history in California back to 1991 when the car had 51k miles.

Clean Carfax Report

Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

This 1984 Jaguar XJ6 was previously featured on BaT in February 2018 and was acquired by the seller in May 2020. The car is finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic over blue leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired to a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include 15″ alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, an electric sunroof, walnut interior trim, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. An ignition coil is said to have been replaced in preparation for the sale. Now showing 97k miles, this Jaguar XJ6 is offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic and exterior features include a chrome front grille and trim, twin fuel filler caps, impact bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes dents around the body along with older paintwork on various panels.

The 15″ pepperpot alloy wheels are mounted with 215/65 Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 tires at each corner. Braking is provided by power-assisted front and rear disc brakes.

The cabin features Isis Blue leather seats with matching door panels and a black dash pad. Amenities include wood trim, power accessories, a sunroof, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a CD changer. The headliner has been replaced. The seat upholstery shows separation at the seams in areas and the seller states that the cruise control is inoperable and the air conditioner requires servicing.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows 97k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the seller.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features Lucas-Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and an ignition coil is said to have been replaced in January 2022.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.

Manufacturer’s literature, service records, two keys, and historical photos are included in the sale.
