Lot #142425

This 1987 Jaguar XJ6 spent time in North Carolina before the seller’s acquisition in 2022. It is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Tungsten Metallic over Biscuit leather upholstery. Equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ alloy wheels, a sunroof, cruise control, a digital trip computer, and a cassette stereo. Service since 2020 included replacing the starter, battery, valve cover gasket, and air filter, and changing the oil. This XJ6 has 137k miles and is offered at no reserve with an owner’s manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.

The car is finished in Tungsten Metallic (JEX) and features a “leaper” hood ornament, quad headlights, a sunroof, bright window trim and bumper accents, dual fuel filler doors, and dual exhaust outlets. The hood was refinished, the driver headlight is not working, and close-up photos presented in the gallery show oxidized and faded paint, a loose windshield seal, dings, and blemishes around the car.

Factory 15″ Kent wheels wear GT Radial Wingro tires with cracks in the tread. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Biscuit (ADE) leather contrasted by brown carpets. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels, and amenities include cruise control, a digital trip computer, power windows, and a cassette stereo. Wear is visible on the wood trim, seating surfaces, and shifter bezel. The seller notes the air conditioning is not functioning.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 137k miles.

The fuel-injected 4.2L inline-six was factory rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. Service since 2020 consisted of replacing the starter, battery, valve cover gaskets, and air filter, and changing the oil. The hood insulation pad is loose and sagging.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
