Sellers description:
My 1984 Jaguar XJ6. Finished in Grosvenor Brown over Biscuit, this is a nice, clean example of one of Jaguar's most timeless and classic designs.
This example has been driven just 84,000 miles in its 28 years and has recently been the subject of quite a bit of service and general freshening including a complete ignition system tune-up, new A/C compressor, oil and filter change, a new battery, front brakes (pads and rotors), cam cover gaskets and new Bilstein front shocks. Needless to say, it runs and drives very nicely and needs very little in the way of mechanical work to be absolutely perfect. I know two of the car's previous owners and know that one of them had the entire front subframe removed and all new front suspension bushings put in as well as having the rear brakes overhauled which included rebuilt calipers. As for any items needing attention, they are as follows; the heater valve seems to work intermittently and the oil pressure gauge face has slid down (visible in photos) however this does not affect its operation--this is purely aesthetic. As for the body, there is some very slight rust beginning to bubble on the left rear wheel arch and a small area under the passenger's side door mirror. I don't believe this car has ever been involved in any accidents as I cannot find evidence of any major bodywork in the past. The paint has a very deep luster and looks very nice, considering the age of the car. The interior is also in very nice and serviceable condition with none of the typical peeling of the lacquer on the timber, has had the headliner replaced by the previous owner and also has a brand new set of coco mats. While there are no tears or major flaws in the Connolly hides, some of the stitching is beginning to unravel on the bottom bolsters (also visible in photos). The car runs very nicely down the road with that wonderful Jaguar "magic carpet" ride that they are so famous for. There are no untoward noises or vibrations and I would trust the car on a long trip without hesitation. Both fuel tanks work properly, as do their respective fuel level indicators and all switchover solenoids and valves. The exhaust is in fine shape as well as the matching set of Pirelli P4000 tires on the original GKN 'Kent' alloy wheels. Windows and locks also work properly, as well as the sunroof and all instruments, interior and exterior lamps and original Phillips/Jaguar hi-fi unit and electric aerial.
