www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm

Auction description:
Automobiles of London
31 October 2007
Lot 211
1976 Jaguar C-Type Heritage Replica
To be auctioned on Wednesday, October 31, 2007
Sold for £35,200
Chassis no. 2T16236BW

Estimate: €33,000 - €44,000
Estimate: $45,000 - $60,000

From the Collection of Mr. Bernie Ecclestone

Specifications:
Est. 210hp 4,235cc double overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Wheelbase: 96in. (2,438mm).
Classic Jaguar Replicas of Berkshire, whose cars have raced successfully in the Paladin Shield series and even won the modern Carrera Panamericana, produces remarkable Heritage C-Types.

The car offered here is one such replica, originally built from 1976 XJ6 components in 1992 for Terry Cohn of Farnham. Cohn, formerly a Rolls-Royce dealer, had intended to race the car but sold it at auction one year later where it was acquired by the Ecclestone Collection.

The fibreglass coachwork is fitted to a triangulated, space frame chassis and is painted in proper Ecurie Ecosse blue, which remains in good condition. The fit of the body panels is also generally good.

Correct C-Type reproduction units include wire wheels, side exhaust, leather bonnet straps, a pair of Brooklands-style windscreens, and a wrap-around aero screen.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
