Auction description:
French title
Chassis n° 2H2001BW
- No reserve
- Rare and exclusive
- Attractive price
- 5-seater convertible

The last car to be designed under the auspices of Sir William Lyons was the Jaguar XJC coupé. The XJ6 saloon, with its sumptuous styling, chic interior and splendid drivetrain was crowned car of the year in 1968. We understand that the first order, for a Lynx XJC cabriolet, was from the Governor of Mauritius, to impress the Queen Mother during her official visit. In 1976, there were 14 other orders for this exclusive British soft top: the trend was underway. The car in the sale is a 4.2-litre Daimler XJC with automatic gearbox, sold new in Monaco and transformed by Lynx in 1987. The chassis was strengthened, and it was fitted with an electrically operated black fabric hood lined in grey. The gearbox was changed. The current owner bought the car in 2001 from Dubourg Automobiles in Namur in Belgium. It has the original black leather upholstery, and the car has been regularly maintained. The car has bolt-on wire wheels fitted with Michelin XWX tyres, and comes with its instruction manual.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
