Ebay item 8/4/16
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ6-Base-/232037782421
Opening bid US $2,500 reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction, buy it now price $3,300. Seller stuartlocklear12345, 57k miles.

Sellers description:
The car is in excellent shape and very complete but doesn't run. We've owned the car for approximately 40 years; bought it with a bad engine. That was fixed and eventually and it was restored with a rebuilt engine about 20 years ago and then parked, in a controlled environment, due to another engine problem. (I think the replacement engine had a distributor issue and possibly another problem. It's been a while.) Jaguar rubber suspension parts were replaced with nylon. The needle bearings were removed from the IRS and replaced with solid billet. As an occasional driver, the car should never have another suspension problem. Break lines were replaced with stainless steel. Borg Warner transmission was replaced with Ford transmission. Original BW transmission, as well as the original engine (block and head are apart), is available. As for the body, a small paint chip over one headlight and discoloration keeps it from being a great example. The chrome is fair to OK. Extremely nice example, just needs a little TLC to get her back on the road. Parts car is available for free as well.

Car returns to ebay 10/14/16
www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Jaguar-XJ6-/191995259630
Current bid $4,150, no reserve, 2 bids 6 days left in auction, car now said to be in Waxhaw, North Carolina, seller gknspeed, 57k miles. Previous auction received no bids.

Sellers description:
I purchased this XJ6 with a plan to modify it using modern XF components. When I looked over the car in detail I realized that it is far too nice to cut into. The family I bought it from here in NC owned it for 40 years and had it painted 20 years ago, It has held up well. At the same time a later 4.2 motor and custom transmission was fitted. (the original short block, cylinder head and transmission are included in the sale) I installed new fuel pumps, ignition coil, distributor cap, leads, float needles, oil and filter. The audio cd system is high quality from the 90s and sounds good, the original radio and facia is included. A lot of money has been spent on this one over the years and it is a great example. The title is in my name and in hand. Now, this is a 1972 Jaguar and not a car to be used as a daily driver. It is a 70s Jag and has a personality.

This 1972 Jaguar XJ6 is finished in pearl white over dark blue leather and reportedly remained with its original owner for 40+ years. Approximately 20 years ago, the original owner decided to have the car repainted in its current shade, and a Series III 4.2-liter inline-six was also installed along with a TH350 automatic transmission. Since acquiring this XJ in October 2016, the seller has spent over $18k on maintenance, including transmission work, various gaskets and seals, and over $12k in March 2018 alone on restoring the fuel tanks, repairing factory instrumentation and the A/C system, a valve adjustment, rebuilding the carburetors, and more as described below. This Jaguar is now being offered at no reserve with 180+ photos, recent maintenance invoices, factory manuals and literature, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean Florida title in the seller's name.

According to the Heritage Trust Certificate, this car was originally finished in white over dark blue leather. The original owner reportedly had a complete repaint in pearl white performed around 20 years ago, a number of exterior imperfections.

Refurbished 15″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps. A set of thin whitewall Firestone FR710 tires are currently equipped.

Inside, this Jaguar retains correct dark blue leather, accented with blue carpets and wood veneer trim. The cabin has reportedly been kept mostly stock, though the original owner added a modern stereo system with Polk Audio speakers and a Pioneer head unit.

As part of the March 2018 work, the seller had the factory instrumentation gone through and claims that each gauge now functions properly. The mechanical odometer currently shows 58,705 miles and is believed to be correct, however documentation cannot confirm this for sure. Approximately 1,800 miles have been added by the seller since October 2016.

Roughly 20 years ago, the original owner elected to have a Series III 4.2-liter inline-six installed along with Series I camshafts, a TH350 automatic transmission. The seller states that he has spent over $18k on maintenance since October 2016, including transmission repairs and multiple seals/gaskets. In March 2018 at 58,583 miles, $12,975.61 of work was performed at Glenn's MG Repair of St. Petersburg, Florida. The full 3-page invoice is depicted in the gallery below and shows the following:

Fuel tanks tested, restored, and repainted
New fuel lines and seals throughout
New brake light switch
Adjusted handbrake
New fan clutch
Repaired A/C system
Valve adjustment
Rebuilt carburetors
Remove and re-seal power steering rack

During the March 2018 service, Glenn's also repaired and re-welded areas of the factory floors as necessary to correct damage or corrosion.

Factory manuals and period literature accompany the sale.

According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, this XJ6 was manufactured on September 20, 1972 finished in white over dark blue leather. The original engine, transmission, and chassis numbers are also provided.
