Ebay item 8/13/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ6-Barn-Find-1971-Jaguar-XJ6-BARN-FIND-with-XKE-engine- ...
Current bid $2,075, no reserve, 14 bids 5 days left in auction. 204k miles.

Sellers description:
This car does not run. However, the engine is free and will turn over by hand. The carburetors need to be gone through and the throttle linkage is stuck, however, all parts are there and in good condition.

GOOD POINTS
There is little to no rust on the car, the pictures offered show surface rust only. No serious problems could be found as far as body.
The paint is in 90% condition save for a few sun spots on the roof and deck lid.
All chrome is in excellent condition, shines up by hand very very well.
All glass is crack free,
Interior is immaculate except for the saggy headliner.
Dash is uncracked, wood trim is in good condition except for the varnish in the dash components needing to be redone.
Brakes work and do not bind.
Windows roll up and down when power is hooked up.
Comes with All the factory tools in the trunk.

STORY Of This JAG
In 1971 this car was purchased in California, however I dont have much on the original owner. There is a short owner log that shows purchase in about 1978 by the second owner which according to the third owner worked for IBM. The car was used as a daily and racked with miles around this time. The third owner bought the car around 1986 (according to the California registrations I have).

In the early 90s the third owner had the car fully restored, which would explain its immaculate condition with the amount of miles on the chassis.

This is the part thats unclear to me. At some point it was stated that this car had an XKE engine fitted (evidence by the three carbs at first glance). in '97 the third owner moved from California to Tennessee, just over the hill from me, to start his own business. Daily life of a business owner led him to park this jewel in the barn on his land and he didnt touch it for 14 years. A neighbor and I found the car and while we fell in love with the story didnt have the time to put into it. So regrettably we offer it to the next loving owner.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
