Ebay item 10/9/14 www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ6-4-2-Litre-1971-series-one-4-2-rust-free-california-c ...
Current bid US $5,000, no reserve, 2 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Jaguar Series 1 XJ6. It was ordered by its recently deceased owner in 1969 while on vacation in London. It comes with every receipt, order form, original advertising, repair order even the bill of lading from the "good Steamship Silverman" that transported the car to the US! There are a number of large folders and a 3 ring binder that document this car from the day it was ordered for its full 45 years of ownership, quite amazing. It is still the original colour scheme as delivered, being Regency Red with Navy interior. It was ordered with an AM FM Phillips radio that it still retains (works well) and air conditioning (fans blow, but needs charging) along with hand operated windows, not electric, which incidentally work very well. The car has been repainted and the leather seats have been re-upholstered but otherwise the car is extremely original and totally rust free.
The car runs exceptionally well having only covered 110K mile since new. The transmission, brakes suspension, steering all feel excellent and it shows no sign of overheating.
The owner was very meticulous in the upkeep of his pride and joy being very active in the Jaguars owners clubs and the car was shown on many occasions. It is just a lovely example of an unmolested old classic, cars like this are increasingly hard to find. It has always been garaged and well looked after and does not look like ever having been in a serious collision or driven in any harsh conditions. Underneath the floors are in pristine condition, no jack marks or the slightest indication of rust. It has a clear California title and is registered until Nov 2014. All areas inside the fenders, front and back, where you expect to find the odd ripple or incorrect hardware are amazingly straight and correct. Even the front valence is in very good shape.
The panels are straight, no dents and the gaps are good although the paint has bubbled on the hood and there are a couple of chips in the paint that have been touched up. The glass is excellent; rubber seals are what you would expect for a car that is nearly 50 years old. The chrome is very complete (with the exception of one side of the rear window chrome trim has parted company with the window seal at some point and disappeared) and in extremely good shape all round.
The interior still has that classic Jaguar smell, the wooden dash is exceptional door panels etc all original and in good shape. Unfortunately the headlining is starting to drop.
In the trunk is a spare tyre, jack and original bag for the handle. The sound insulation under the lid is still in perfect condition, something rarely seen. Under the hood all looks original and complete and it has very little in the way of leaks.
The wonderful straight six engine starts easily from cold and pulls smoothly and powerfully, with no unwanted noise or any sign of smoke and almost silent in operation. It has good oil pressure and the gauges all work including the clock and trip function on the Speedo. The electrical items all seem to function properly and the indicators even self cancel. The transmission shifts smoothly and there is no sign of slipping or other issues. The steering is smooth, light but precise. The brakes feel good, and it pulls up nice and straight without any noise or fuss. The rear axle is audible making a slight whine at around 30mph but it is not too intrusive or worrying. Overall the car drives very well.
Electrically most things seem to be working, including running lights, High/low beams panel, wipers, heater fan and indicators, the windshield washers probably need fluid. The map light and interior lights do not illuminate, could be a fuse. Both fuel tanks work and the gauges read. There are a full set (3) of keys and the glove box and door locks work.
The wiring does not seem to have been modified or repaired and is extremely original and correct. The tyres have decent tread the rear ones look very new.
To recap this car is an amazing time capsule that is fully documented with a very interesting history. It is a sharp looking, genuinely unmolested car that drives like a charm. Due to its lack of rust, straight body and originality will appreciate well if it is looked after and driven as is or it could be the basis for a stunning restoration, if you choose.

It comes with every receipt, order form, original advertising, repair order, heritage certificate, and even the bill of lading from the "good Steamship Silverman" that transported the car to the US! The documentation of this car from the day it was ordered throughout its first 45 years of ownership is quite amazing. The current 2nd owner took excellent care of the car since its acquisition. Improving it immensely with new subframe mounts, new cooling hoses, two rebuilt fuel gauge sender units, and having the A/C serviced and recharged, rotors serviced, handbrake adjusted, new handbrake pads, and new battery installed. It has also been fitted with the highly desirable electronic ignition unit for more reliability.
This XJ6 is still the original color scheme as delivered from England, being Regency Red with Navy interior. It has recently undergone an expensive paint job where it was taken down to the bare metal and repainted in its original color, all seals etc replaced at that time. The wheels have also been repainted and look excellent. This Jaguar has the English spec headlight configuration and is without the US spec side markers which really gives it a clean look. It was also ordered with an AM FM Phillips radio that it still retains (functions perfectly) and air conditioning along with hand operated windows, not electric, which incidentally work very well.

All areas inside the fenders, front and back, where you'd expect to find the odd ripple or incorrect hardware are amazingly straight and correct. Even the front valence is in very good shape. The panels are straight, no dents, and the gaps are good. The glass is excellent and the windshield and rear glass rubber seals have been replaced and look great. The chrome trim is complete and in extremely good shape all round. This Jaguar sits on four Hercules all season tires and includes a spare in the trunk, all with their original Jaguar crested hub caps.
The interior still has that classic Jaguar smell. The wooden dash is exceptional and the door panels are original and in very good shape. The door seals are in great condition as well. The seats have been nicely reupholstered in leather some years ago and they look very close to original. The headliner has been replaced and looks excellent. The drivers' side carpet could use replacing, but otherwise all the interior carpeting is complete and tidy.

Car on BAT
bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-jaguar-xj6-8/
Current Bid: $5,000Ends In:5 days
Seller's description:
This 1971 Jaguar XJ6 is a Series 1 sedan that was reportedly ordered new in London while its first owner was on vacation in 1969, and was acquired four years ago by its current owner. The car is finished in Regency Red over blue leather and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. Work under current ownership included a repaint in the original color as well as fitment of new subframe mounts, fuel gauge sending unit rebuilds, an air conditioning recharge, and more. This XJ6 is offered by a repair shop on behalf of its owner with manuals, records from new, period photographs and documentation, and a clean Nevada title in the owner’s name.
The car was refinished in its original Regency Red under current ownership according to the seller, who points out that it features British-market headlights but does not include US-market side indicators.
Repainted stock 15″ steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps and are fitted with Hercules all-season tires. The condition of the paintwork and trim is shown up close in the gallery below.
The cabin is trimmed in replacement blue leather with matching carpets and features a burl wood dash panel as well as roll-up windows. A replacement grey headliner has been installed. There is no carpet on the driver’s side floor. The instruments are shown in operation in the video above. Approximately 12k miles are shown on the 5-digit mechanical odometer, with total mileage unknown. The seller notes that the air conditioning system has been recharged and that working electrics include the running lights, high/low beams, wipers, heater fan, and indicators. The map light is said to be inoperative.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors, and a cold start video is provided above. A 1971 federal emissions label is visible in the engine compartment. Service under current ownership included installation of new cooling hoses, an electronic ignition unit, and a fresh battery. The brake master cylinder was rebuilt earlier this year. The seller notes that the fuel gauge is not operational and that fuel sending units are not working.
The current owner also had new subframe mounts, handbrake pads, and other braking components installed. Additional photos of the underside are provided to show the floors, suspension components, and more.
The car is offered with records said to date to new, period photographs, and period documents such as a bill of lading dated in 1971.
