I owned this XJ6 between August 1996 - May 2017. The mileage was (1)42,000 when I purchased it. I was the third owner; the previous 2 local owners had each kept the car for approximately 12 years. This XJ6 was a 4.2 litre standard wheelbase model and was fitted with a manual + overdrive gearbox (in fact it was the first 4.2 Se.1 manual I had ever seen!). In 2003 I had the engine rebuilt and at the same time swapped the gearbox and back axle with items from a low mileage Daimler Sovereign 2.8 which I also owned at the time. The lower ratio axle from the Daimler gave really impressive acceleration around town, albeit at the expense of fuel economy... I sold this XJ6 because I hadn't actually driven it for several years and by then it needed recommissioning. The chap I sold it to put this Jaguar back on the road, although I later saw it advertised for sale again (2018 approx.).
