Jaguar Enthusiast (UK club magazine), December 1993, page 12: This car allocated to the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club to be made roadworthy etc for use by the Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust. This car the property of Jaguar Cars since its manufacture on 2 December 1968, registered PHP42G and "commissioned as a Jaguar company vehicle on 4 February 1969". Chassis 1L1370BW, engine 7L1792-8, gearbox 31442, body no. 1904. Still in its original Sable Brown with Cinnamon leather interior. Extensively used by Sir William Lyons privately and as a chauffeur driven vehicle. Used up to 1976 when it was taken off the road with a mileage of 62,000. Stored since and only resurrected in the Summer of 1993, when it had some paintwork done prior to display for the JEC at the Bromley Pageant of Motoring in June 1993. At this time it was driveable but not roadworthy and its condition was being further assessed, the intention being to return it to Jaguar with an MOT.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
