Ebay item 4/26/15
www.ebay.com/itm/271850122029
Current bid 4 bids 3 days left in auction buy it now price $4,650. 62k miles.
Sellers description:
Gorgeous 1970 XJ6. I am a long time Jaguar enthusiast and my wife and I have owned and restored over 20 classic Jaguar saloons since the late 1990s. This particular vehicle has the very desirable Euro specifications: 2.8 engine, with 4 speed (with OD, like on the old XKE, Mark II, etc), large headlights, etc. It had a new paint job about 4 years ago. It has new Dayton wire wheels that have less than 200 miles on them.
This car came from a collector in Virginia, who bought it from the original Canadian owner. The interior is all original, except for a new headliner, and is in very good shape, except for the top of the rear seat, which is dried and cracked in a few spots, and the driver's seat is separated at the seams in a couple of spots. The carpets and trim are in excellent shape, as is the wood bits. The interior just has that amazing "Jag" feel to it!
The body panels are in great shape, in fact I believe the front fenders are brand new. The rocker panel on the passenger's side near the rear wheel, and the driver's floor board needs to be patched. I've sourced both a new rocker panel and floor pan, both can be had for about $150 total, and is a simple welding job to put them in because they are pre-cut and a perfect fit. These two issues don't affect the look or drive-ability of the car at all, I'm just disclosing the 2 rusty areas that will need attention. As mentioned, the car was professionally painted a few years ago, and shines up nicely, but it does have a few scratches and small bubbled areas. The chrome is in decent shape but would need to be re-chromed to be a show car. The front grille can be re chromed or a used replacement can be found for about $150 if you're not into the "all black" look that the previous owner went with.
The Dayton wire wheels are new, and at $1500 a set, are worth 1/3 of what I'm asking for the car. The all original 4 speed with OD by itself is worth another $2000 easily. This car just needs someone to finish the restoration. It runs and drives just fine, but it's not safe to drive because the brake line leak, which means the brakes go all the way to the floor with no stopping ability at all, so the car will have to be towed. The brake line can be fixed with a simple compression fitting, or a replacement kit for the whole system can be had for about $300. The fuel line just has a small pin hole leak that can be easily patched. As you can see in the trunk picture, one of the gas tanks has been "shut off" and the pumps are only connected to the passenger's side tank. The driver's side tank needs to be cleaned out before it's reconnected. The car runs fine on the one tank.
Tires are like new, and the car can easily be towed and shipped.
I need my garage space, I have two other Jaguars that I want to keep in the garage, and I just don't have the time to get this one finished. I bought it on a whim last year, and just need to let someone else have it. This car literally needs the brake line and fuel line patched, a quick cleaning of the carbs/tune up, and it will be a daily driver that gets great gas mileage, being the 2.8 manual configuration..,a beautiful "driver as you restore it" kind of thing.
